Job Purpose
The Team Leader role is integral and will support the Manager with the daily operation of our attraction and Children's Activity Workshop’s, to deliver a first -class experience at KidZania whilst maintaining a fun, safeguarded environment for our visitors.
Partnering with the Manager, this role is responsible for leading a team of Hosts, customer service/interaction, maintenance and general functionality of the Activity Workshops. You will ensure that both team members and visitors have a great time and the daily operation runs as smoothly as possible with their wellbeing in mind.
The Team Leader is also a key member of the operational management team and will support the Manager to ensure that the City is adequately staffed in line with both the operational calendar and departmental labour budget.
The role holder will lead and motivate large groups of employees on a daily basis, manage performance, promote positive culture and communication.
Essentially, we will be looking for you to nurture, upskill and coach the team, facilitate team unity and building trusted relationships with your team and customers alike to enhance the overall performance.
This role also involves duty management responsibilities and must be willing to be part of our first aid team.
Responsibilities
- Working closely with the Manager, you will continually be looking for ways to maximise team development, customer service, experience and help implement customer service standards and procedures
- Liaising across all departments to highlight visitor feedback/ issues which need addressing. Support in conflict resolution.
- Motivate and coach your team and the wider Host team on a daily basis
- Assisting with team members’ timesheets and making sure they are accurately submitted on time
- Lead on ongoing coaching an learning, training and development, setting targets whilst overseeing the training for all reportees. Conduct weekly coaching and assessments to ensure employees are given regular performance feedback to ensure standards remain high.
- Assist with recruitment activities including; assessment centres, interviews and inductions
- Ensure all employee records are kept up to date and log incidences for Human Resources and data for the administrative and operative area payroll (schedules, holiday, post changes, leaves, absenteeism etc.)
- Champion Health and Safety and Safeguarding for Children across the whole business and ensure all employees are trained to execute emergency procedures.
- Alongside the Resource Planner, manage the holiday for Hosts ensuring all holiday is taken in a timely manner in accordance with the resourcing needs of the business.
- Responsibility for complying with company policy concerning, safeguarding for children, health, safety and security of themselves and others and must ensure that they do not endanger others by their acts or omissions.
The jobholder will perform any other reasonable tasks, as requested by the Manager and Company Directors.
Essential Criteria
- Experience in a similar role in either retail, attraction park, entertainment, leisure or hospitality business. Experience in photography sales and admissions is desirable.
- Experience in leading and coaching team performance in a retail, operations customer service capacity
- Experienced in rostering or resource planning, aware of payroll processes and a good understanding of holiday accrual
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a delivery/target focus and ability to maintain high attention to detail whilst driving efficiencies
- Ability to work through complex issues and to work effectively in a busy and fast paced environment.
- Personal credibility, excellent interpersonal skills, ability to forge and strengthen relationships/rapport quickly
- Demonstratable experience of and understanding visitor management and control
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Packages, especially excel
- Excellent communication and attention to detail
- Solution focused, uses initiative, and has a proactive approach to work
- Proactive and a great team player who is very friendly and personable.
- Continuous improvement mindset, positive attitude and resilience.
- Creative and able to think outside of the box.
- Passionate about education and our future generation.
- Experience in managing relationships with public and third parties, more broadly, fairly and with respect, without stereotyping or bias.
