5 Minutes with...
We sit down to speak with our HR Advisor, Danny who has a long history with KidZania London to get an insight into what he does and what to expect at KidZania London.
Danny! How did you first hear about KidZania?
I actually heard about KZ London before it even opened as people I knew were working here to get it all ready to open the doors! It sounded like an amazing concept for Kids
What do you do as HR Advisor?
I advise employees and managers on Policies and employee relations. I process payroll, benefits and pension and get to run fun projects such as competitions and prizes!
What has been your highlight working at KidZania?
KZ is a really collaborative environment so everyone is able to share their ideas and achieve great things. I am particularly proud of setting up an internship scheme, building this careers site and having fun driving the fire truck around the City!
How would you summarize working for KidZania in 3 words?
1. Fun 2. Supportive 3. Unique
How did you get to where you are now?
I wanted to be a performer so I started my career working in tourist attractions and later, attraction management in places such as Madame Tussauds, The Shard and The London Eye. I then explored a more "serious" career option in HR but stayed within a creative environment. This enabled me to work in HR in places such as ITV, The O2, Ticketmaster and KidZania. I had briefly worked for KidZania in the past running Kids' activities so I had a good relationship with them and was then lucky enough to take the HR Advisor role when it became available!
So what's next?
I am always looking for new challenges and will look to continue my career in HR although to fill that performing gap, I will also look to do acting on the side :)
